Taylor & Mathis of Florida hosted Miami’s biggest networking 5K event November 8th benefiting Miami Children’s Hospital. The 7th annual Waterford at Blue Lagoon 5K Race (www.waterford5k.com) was held at the Waterford at Blue Lagoon Corporate Park in Miami where Taylor & Mathis leases and manages eight office buildings on behalf of owners MetLife and DRA Advisors. FedEx was the lead sponsor for the event with other major sponsors including MetLife, Club Med, Breitling, Taylor & Mathis, TIAA-CREF, Hogan, MAPFRE Insurance, TW Telecom, Regus, OrthoNOW, DRA Advisors, ThyssenKrupp and Brickell Magazine.
The race raised nearly $35,000 with $25,000 already donated to Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation and another $10,000 expected to come. Over 2500 people attended the event with 1,714 entrants. The top male winner was Daniel Martin with a time of 15:43 and a 5:04 pace. The top female winner was Karla Rojas with a time of 20:22 and a 6:34 pace. Daniel Martin won the coveted Breitling watch valued at $3500. Both runners won 3-night stays at the Sofitel, dinner at La Riviera restaurant and a commemorative plaque.
An avid runner, Taylor & Mathis Senior Property Manager Peter Romero began the event seven years ago as part of a tenant relations program geared towards tenants in the park to boost individual and corporate morale. In that time it has grown to include 2,000+ participants with over $168,000 donated to charity. Produced by TeamFootWorks the race attracts a diverse array of participants.
“We had great weather and an incredible group of participants,” according to Romero. “The highlight of the race was the glow themed after-party featuring Hora Loca . The DJ and dancers kept the party going with black lights, giveaways, special lighting, and more.”
The Waterford 5K promotes running and walking as a means to a fit, healthy lifestyle. This is an event for runners and walkers of all abilities. Beginners can walk the course enjoying the camaraderie of the event. Competitive runners have the opportunity to shine amongst their co-workers and perhaps lead a corporate team to victory. Taylor & Mathis’ Andrew Trench has signed Hencorp Beckstone (www.hencorp.com) to a 20,000 square foot renewal at 777 Brickell in Miami’s Brickell Financial District. The financial services firm conducted an extensive search for space before deciding to stay at 777 Brickell. “While their search extended to some of the new office space on the market they ultimately chose to stay at 777 Brickell,” according to Trench. “Newer isn’t always better. 777 Brickell is a prestigious office building, impeccably maintained with class A finishes.” The ten year lease is valued at $7.5 million. The deal was co-brokered by William Holly of Pointe Group Advisors.

Hormel Food Sales, LLC (www.hormel.com) has leased 2,598 square feet at Corporate Center I. The deal was co-brokered by Donna Korn of Taylor & Mathis and David Brown of Brown Commercial Real Estate Services, LLC.
Brown and Caldwell (www.brownandcaldwell.com), an environmental engineering consulting firm, signed a 2,562 square foot lease at International Place I. The deal was co-brokered by Donna Korn and Jennifer Patterson of Taylor & Mathis and A.J. Belt of CBRE.

Donna Korn of Taylor & Mathis brokered the transaction on behalf of owner MetLife with HPP represented by co-broker Tony Jones of Cushman & Wakefield.
A tenant at Venture Corporate Center since 2010, Hospital Physician Partners nearly doubled the size of their existing offices with a 26,242 square foot expansion. “In expanding our offices at Venture Corporate Center we were able to consolidate some of our subsidiary companies to the same location as our headquarters,” stated Jeffrey Schillinger, Chief Executive Officer. “The location in Hollywood between I-95 and the Florida Turnpike is outstanding.”
The HPP expansion brings the 252,000 square foot Venture Corporate Center to over 90% leased. The office park contains three office buildings each approximately 84,000 square feet.
